“Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig alittle to find it.”
-Tori Amos
Hello, I am Zoya Thompson, a professional mental health counselor and the founder of Clear Serenity. A major focus of my work has been supporting those who have experienced trauma to help them on their journey of healing by developing healthy coping skills, reducing trauma symptoms, and allowing them to tell their story. I believe that everyone deserves a chance to experience a safe space to process and experience joy. I am passionate about serving Bahamians and working to reduce the stigma around mental health.
Experience
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2020) and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology (2022) from Southwestern Adventist University. I have received training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), CBT, and play therapy.
During the past four years, I have primarily worked with trauma survivors and their non-offending caregivers to amplify hope and provide a safe environment for change to occur. I have supported clients in both a non-profit and university setting. I have helped clients both in Texas and The Bahamas.
I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas, providing specialized trauma-focused therapy and crisis intervention services for victims of abuse and advocating for their non-offending family members. I am also a public speaker and content creator.

My WHY
I believe that life is a journey filled with highs and lows, my passion is to help those who are having a difficult low. During the seasons when the journey is tough, a place of refuge is most needed. My goal for Clear Serenity is to provide a safe place for those who need help so that they can continue on their journey to accomplish great things.
Growing up on the island of Abaco in the Bahamas, I have witnessed firsthand the lack of mental health resources available and the issues that run rampant as a result. I created Clear Serenity to mitigate the extreme shortage of counseling services, decrease the stigma of mental health, and provide a safe space for those who are having a difficult time. As Bahamians, there is such a focus on physical health (which is great), however, our mental health also needs care, attention, and support. Our mental health directly connects to how we view the world, show up in the world, and handle situations. This means that if we are struggling with our mental health, it will spill into every other area of life. Here at Clear Serenity, we want to support you so you can show up as your best-healed self in the world.
We are here for you!
